I struggled a bit to find some decent resources for isometric buildings and props, there are a few out there but most of them either have this generic block style meant for real time strategy type games or they are not exactly isometric and break the grid.
The sprite I used before was also way too large to fit into most standard sized 32 by 32 sized tiles and the bigger you go with tiles the more work you have to do with texturing, dithering, and all sorts of difficult shading techniques to make them look good.
So how did they do it back in the day?, they used 3D models, most often low poly 3D and then exported them as images to add into the game.
I found this solution to be the best way to get something quick and isometric without having to draw each and everything pixel by pixel especially for a slightly more realistic style, the result appealed to me.
